Gateway EDI Provider Name Edit Change
Thursday, Apr 15, 2010 - 05:12:41 PM
Important Message from Gateway EDI
Date Range: 3/29/10 - Present
Kareo has been notified by Gateway EDI that they will no longer process claims where the name listed as the pay-to-provider is longer than 35 charcters, including spaces and punctuations. This change was part of an update done to there systems on 3/29/10 as they prepare for the future roll-out of the HIPAA 5010 e-claim format.
The result of this clearinghouse change is you will not receive any claim confirmation back from any claims submitted where the pay-to-provider name is longer than 35 characters.
Submitter Action: Login into your practice and go to settings > practice information and count the number charcaters entered in the Name feild at the top. If it's more than 35 you will need to shorten it to 35 or less and click Save at the bottom. Once the name has been shorten you then need to re-bill any claims submitted between 3/29/10 - 4/15/10 that you have received the expected Gateway claim confirmation report. A quick way toi idenfity these claims is by going to encounters > track claim status and looking at the ClrHouse Tracking Number Column, if there's no number listed that claim needs to be re-billed.
Kareo Action: We have deployed an internal claim edit that will prevent future claims where the pay-to-provider name is too long from going out and your will receive a kareo rejection report listing the specific claims and provider name that needs to be shorten.
Kareo apologizes for the inconvince and delay in claim processing/payment this has caused
